What you, the residents told us

Street prostitution has increased over the past 5 years Women working in prostitution are on the street longer and they are working irregular hours More women working on the streets has led to an increase in kerb crawlers. The increase in women working is seen by some of you as drug related. More young underage girls are seen working. Some of you witnessed violence against the women but were fearful of reprisals from pimps if you intervened. Big concern for the reputation of this neighbourhood of Walsall.

You felt that crime comes along with prostitution Some of you felt that you are being victimised because of the effects of streets prostitution and drug use in the neighbourhood - you said you are the victims Also, that the Authorities in Walsall do not respond effectively Many residents wanted the negative media publicity about the area to be addressed


Most residents feel unsafe in the area


Especially after dark due to harassment from kerb crawlers female residents can be approached for business men fear their wives and daughters will be accosted at night.

Many residents were worried about children picking up needles and viewing things that they were too young to see.
